Day 5 - God dwells in me

Day 5 - God dwells in me

What agreement [can there be between] a temple of God and idols?
For we are the temple of the living God;
even as God said,
"I will dwell in & with & among them
and will walk in & with & among them,
and I will be their God,
and they shall be My people."
2Cor.6:16 (Amplified)

    One religion says that humans have the goal of becoming gods & our goal in this life should be to secure our resurrection as a god, in which capacity the resurrected will continue to progress, just as God did. Heaven is for everyone, but consists of 3 levels. Entering the highest level is a complex matter depending on such things as membership (in this particular church), obedience to it's ordinances, etc. Beyond this is full salvation, available only to faithful members, and those who obtain it are exalted and become gods.
    Following one of the major themes of the New Age Movement, humanity is spiritually evolving from being worshippers of God to being gods ourselves.
    The following is a quotation from "John", a supposedly "disembodied" spirit talking to actress Shirley Maclaine: "Your dogmatic religions, for example, are most limiting for mankind because they demand unquestioned reverence for authority-an exterior authority. You are God. You know you are Divine."
    There is nothing new under the sun, for this appeal to become gods was in the Garden of Eden when Satan lied to Eve, saying, "Ye shall not surely die: for God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil."
    The Bible says that all have sinned (Rom.3:20), the wages of that sin is death (Rom.6:23)and it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment (not evolution) (Hebr.9:27) Mankind's only hope for eternal life is in Jesus Christ. He loved us so much that He humbled Himself and took on human flesh in order to pay the penalty of death, as a perfect sacrifice, and rose triumphant over death. He now offers eternal life to all those who place their faith in Him as their Substitute. Eph.2:8,9 says "For by GRACE are ye saved through FAITH; and that NOT
    of yourselves: it is the GIFT of God: NOT OF WORKS, lest any man should boast."
    I John 3:2 says "Beloved, NOW are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when He shall appear, WE SHALL BE LIKE HIM..." At that time (& viewing the speed at which the world is hurtling toward the New World Order and setting the stage for the Antichrist, His return will be very soon) our mortal bodies will be changed to immortal and we will be like Him in His resurrection body.
    But in the meantime - what a truth! He, the great Creator has promised to dwell in each believer, giving them all that is His, for we are heirs of God and joint-heirs with Jesus Christ (Rom.8:17) HE is our SURE HOPE OF GLORY! I am reminded of the words to an old hymn:
    1)I have walked alone with Jesus in a fellowship
    divine;
    Nevermore can earth allure me, I am His and He is
    mine.
    2)In my failure, sin and sorrow, broken-hearted,
    crushed and torn,
    I have felt His presence near me, He has all my
    burdens borne.
    Chorus:
    I have seen Him, I have known Him,
    For He deigns to walk with me;
    And the glory of His presence
    Will be mine eternally.
    O the glory of His presence,
    O the beauty of His face;
    I am His and His forever,
    He has won my by His grace.

    Amazing grace - how sweet the sound!
